SCREEN SUCCESS

A total of 3,569 hours was broadcast from the 18 grands prix in 2007.

Sixty four per cent of them (2,297 hours) were dedicated to live broadcasting (qualifying, practice and races).

A total of 207 countries were reached by the MotoGP broadcasts.

The live TV signal was received by 184 countries.

A staggering 337 million homes were reached by cable, satellite and TV networks.

 

VOTING ON THEIR FEET

The average crowd for a three day grand prix weekend in 2007 was 129,050

More spectators watched the 2007 MotoGP World Championship than in any other season in the 59 year history of the World Championship.

The Brno circuit in the Czech Republic attracted the biggest weekend crowd, a staggering 245,039 fans over three days.

Five circuits attracted over 100,000 fans on race day.

A total of 2,322,914 spectators watched the 18 grands prix

Over 85,000 more fans attended the Cardion AB Grand Prix of the Czech Republic than in 2006.

Five circuits attracted over 200,000 spectators over a race weekend.

Over 95,000 fans watched Saturday qualifying at Jerez in Spain.

For the fifth year in succession the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring attracted over 200,000 spectators for the weekend.

MEDIA FRENZY

A total of 11,903 media representatives were accredited for the 18 grands prix in the 2007 MotoGP season.

Media representatives from 56 separate countries were accredited in 2007.

An average of 661 journalists attended each grand prix.

A total of 6721 TV personnel representing 39 Television stations and Production Companies from 27 countries were accredited in 2007.

Four thousand seven hundred and thirty one journalists and photographers from 52 countries and representing 1840 publications were accredited for the 18 grands prix.

Radio Stations from 18 countries represented by 378 reporters were accredited throughout the season.

Italy and Spain sent the most journalists and photographers with 830 and 642 representatives respectively.

The opening grand prix of the season in Qatar attracted 596 journalists from 27 countries.

The GMC Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island attracted the biggest media attendance with 799 accredited from 23 countries.

CIRCUMNAVIGATING THE GLOBE

The 18 grands prix will be staged in 14 separate counties and five separate continents.

For the first time the United States will stage two grands prix in one season.

The first race staged at the World famous American Indianapolis circuit in 1909 was a Motor Cycle race and they are celebrating by staging the their first MotoGP event 99 years later.

The Assen circuit in Holland will stage its 59th successive Grand Prix. It is the only circuit remaining from the original 1949 World Championship schedule.

The average MotoGP paddock in Europe occupies 30,000 square metres of ground, houses 1800 people, includes it's own A and E hospital clinic and requires two and a half thousand kilowatts of power to keep the infrastructure ticking over.

The European grand paddock houses 150 articulated trucks, 45 hospitality units and 80 motorhomes.
