This is Britain’s premier racing series with factory backed teams and riders from five of the world’s leading manufacturers, featuring the cream of our racing talent, with a strong international flavour in the Holiday Monday races.
Adding to the action on a big biker’s weekend is a round of the
World Sidecar Championship immediately following on from the Superbike
qualifying on Sunday afternoon.
It is a meeting crucial to the
title hopes of local favourite Leon Haslam who knows that nothing short
of a winning double will suffice if he is to put his challenge back on
course.
The HM Plant Honda rider has good memories of his last
races at the Leicestershire Grand Prix circuit, having taken a first
ever Superbike winning double there last year
He is up against
former champion and series leader Shane Byrne and his Airwaves Ducati
team-mate Leon Camier, the Rob Mac Yamaha of Karl Harris and the Rizla
Suzukis of Tom Sykes and Atsushi Watanabe, not forgetting his Honda
team-mate Cal Crutchlow
Meanwhile, Tim Reeves and Patrick
Farrance will be gunning for glory in their efforts to retain the World
Sidecar crown on Sunday afternoon.
There is free practice
throughout Saturday as everyone apart from the sidecar teams prepare
for racing on Monday, with Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersports;
Relentless British 125GP; Metzeler National Superstock 600 and 1000
Championships, Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup and the Focused Events KTM
SuperDuke Battle.
