He will be joining previously announced mezzo-soprano LAURA WRIGHT, Britain’s Got Talent winners COLLABRO, East Midlands-based Orchestra SINFONIA VIVA and the chart-topping MILITARY WIVES CHOIR for the sensational open-air classical concert on Sunday 4th September 2016. In addition to his hosting duties, Aled will be joining in with the glittering finale performance.

The event will also have food for all tastes and budgets available to purchase with a mix of picnics, hot cultural food and street food stalls.
Aled Jones MBE has been a household name since the 1980's. Beginning his career as one of the world's most successful boy sopranos, he had already released 12 albums by the time ‘Walking in the Air’, the song from the animated film The Snowman, was released. At 16, he had sold over six million albums and was an international success story. Once his voice had broken, Aled went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before being asked to perform the role of Joseph in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’. This was the gateway for his adult career, where he has since released numerous successful albums; most recently 2016’s ‘One Voice’ marked his triumphant return to the top of the charts, where it has become the longest running classical number 1 of the year, spending 9 weeks atop the official classical artist album chart.
In addition to a prolific musical career, Aled has also been a stalwart on the small screen, having presented ‘Escape to the Country’ and ‘Cash in the Attic’ for the BBC and previously co-presented with Lorraine Kelly on ITV's breakfast show 'Daybreak'. In 2014 he began hosting his own show 'Weekend' every Saturday and Sunday morning on ITV1, which is now in it’s third series. A firm favourite on the radio, he has his own Sunday morning show on Classic FM from 7-10am which is the most listened to single show on the network, has presented a show on BBC Radio Wales for the past 15 years and also previously hosted a show on BBC Radio 2.

‘I can’t wait to host Donington Live - the crowds in the East Midlands are always fantastic so I’m looking forward to seeing some familiar faces on 4th September! It’s set to be a perfect end to the summer for the whole family and it will be great fun joining Collabro, Laura Wright and the Military Wives Choir on the day, and maybe I’ll just have to do a musical number myself!’
Donington Live, East Midlands’ newest cultural music event, was conceived when the beloved Darley Park concert was unable to continue at its current location. Including excellent parking, the new location of Donington Park is easily accessible from Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and beyond. Donington Park overlooks the historic Breedon On The Hill Church and is the perfect setting for what is planned to be a permanent fixture in the summer calendar for music lovers and those seeking a great day out with family and friends.
