British GT title battle to be decided at Donington Park in September
The final round of the 2017 British GT Championship takes place at Donington Park on 23-24 September, and once more the prestigious title will be decided at the East Midlands venue.
The premier GT3-class Bentley pairing of Rick Parfitt and Seb Morris claimed victory at Brands Hatch last weekend (5-6 August) to take over the lead of the series from Lamborghini duo Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen. Just 10.5 points separates the two squads, and with 37.5 available at Donington, it’s all to play for. Meanwhile, in the GT4 category, the championship is also up for grabs, making for a double decider at Donington!
British GT is one of Europe’s top supercar racing series, with massive grids packed with supercars that would make for a dream garage line-up! As well as the spectacular Bentley and Lamborghini machines that top the championship, there are also multiple entries from the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, McLaren, Lotus, Maserati, Nissan and Ginetta.
The Donington decider in September will be played out over a two hour race, and if previous finales at the circuit are anything to go by, this year’s title decider should be a thrilling and nail biting contest!
As well as the British GT Championship, the BRDC British F3 Championship will also hold its final round of the year at Donington. British F3 is a key proving ground for future F1 drivers, with drivers currently in F1 to have graduated from British F3 include Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Perez, Kevin Magnussen, Valtteri Bottas, Marcus Ericsson and Carlos Sainz Jr.
Further racing action will come from sportscars of the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club and Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge, sports prototypes of the Excool OSS Championship, and exciting saloons in the MINI Challenge and Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup.
Tickets are available in advance priced at just £12 for Saturday 23 September, £15 for Sunday 24 September or £20 for the full weekend. Children aged 13 and under go free to all motorsport events at Donington. For more information, click here.
