BTCC season set for launch at Donington Park tomorrow!
The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship will hold its major annual Season Launch day at Donington Park tomorrow (Thursday 16 March), with free entry for spectators from 12.30pm.
One of the most anticipated days on the motorsport calendar, the BTCC Season Launch at Donington will offer the first glimpses of the new cars and driver line-ups for the year ahead, as the entire field descends on the Leicestershire circuit for important media work in the morning, before a vital four hour testing session in the afternoon.
The afternoon is open to the public free of charge from 12.30pm, with the test session being the first chance for fans of the series to see the returning legends Jason Plato, Gordon Shedden, Matt Neal, Andrew Jordan and Colin Turkington in action, as well as several new cars and colour schemes.
With many big changes in the series taking place over the winter months and with several leading drivers moving to new teams, this year’s championship is tipped to be one of the most exciting for many years, and the first idea of a competitive order will be established during Thursday’s test at Donington.
Fans will be able to take in the action from the fabulous viewing areas around the circuit, with grandstands open as well as the full infield, while the paddock restaurant will also be open, with tickets for the BTCC race event at Donington on Easter weekend on sale at the restaurant from 2-4pm.
Donington Park Managing Director Christopher Tate commented: “The annual BTCC Season Launch at Donington Park is always an exciting day for the media and for the fans, most of whom have been waiting for this day throughout the whole winter. It’s a very important event for Donington Park and a great way to kick off our 40th Anniversary Season, with free entry for our dedicated fans in the afternoon. We’ll get our first idea of who is in best shape heading into the news season, which will only add more excitement ahead of the BTCC round here on Easter Weekend (15-16 April)!”
