Busy action from BRSCC at Donington Park this weekend
A frantic race schedule of 21 races from the British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) will provide plenty of entertainment at Donington Park this weekend (27-28 August), with cars in action ranging from single seaters to open top coupes, sports cars and saloons.
Single seater drama will come from the Avon Tyres National Formula Ford 1600 Championship and the BRSCC Formula Jedi Championship. Formula Ford racing was once the key proving ground for Formula One stars of the future, and still attracts a good number of young hopefuls today. This weekend’s action will see cars split into two categories, with races for machines built before 1989 and those made from 1990 onwards.
Meanwhile, Formula Jedi sees motorcycle engined cars with front and rear wings go against one another in often thrilling racing. These cars are extremely rapid and hold lap records at some venues, capable of speeds of over 150mph.
Scores of open-topped sports cars will compete in the Mazda MX-5 Championship and Supercup races. These series have always attracted big grids thanks to their budget-friendly regulations and ultra-close racing.
More sports cars are set to entertain in the Toyo Tires Porsche Championship, which will feature a strong line-up of Boxsters and 924s, while an Italian flavour will be provided by the BRSCC Alfa Romeo Championship.
Sports prototypes will go wheel to wheel in the Excool OSS Championship, which includes seven different classes, therefore ensuring a grid of huge variety from a series which welcomes almost any sports prototype car.
The racing line-up is completed by the BMW Race Days Compact Cup series, with a field full of saloon cars from this legendary German manufacturer set to entertain on Sunday.
Tickets are available upon arrival at the circuit for £17 per day or £30 for the full weekend.
