Caterhams headline full weekend of action at Donington Park

No less than 11 races for the legendary Caterham marque will provide thrills aplenty at Donington Park this weekend (15-16 October) as the circuit hosts action from the British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC).

A total of 21 races in all will ensure plenty of variety of racing machinery across the two days, with contests for a wide range of historic and modern saloon cars as well as for the always spectacular Monoposto Tiedeman Trophy for single seaters. This is the final weekend of the season for the BRSCC championships, so expect to see several new champions crowned by the end of the meeting.

The bulk of the racing comes from iconic Caterhams, which are renowned for providing breath-taking racing, especially on fast and flowing tracks such as Donington Park. Five different categories of Caterham will compete, with racing from the Supersport, Academy, Roadsport, Tracksport and the Superlight series. The Superlight category has backing from the BookaTrack.com company which runs its track days from, and also has the world’s currently top selling Caterham showroom at Donington, ensuring this is very much a home round for the series!

Caterham racing always attracts strong grids, so expect to see plenty of these machines doing battle, especially in the Academy Championship, which features split grids due to the size of the entry.

A big line-up of single seaters will go wheel to wheel for the Monoposto Tiedeman Trophy in two races. This series welcomes a variety of machinery ranging from Formula Ford right through to Formula Three.

Meanwhile, historic saloon cars will race on Saturday in the HRDC Touring Greats and TC63 series for classic cars built before the 1960s, with further historic action from the HRDC Allstars, Academy and A-Series Challenge.

Sunday’s competition will feature slightly more modern machinery from saloons in the Honda VTEC Challenge, the miniscule Smart cars of the 4Two Cup and Volkswagen Golfs in the Production GTi Mk2 and Mk5 series.

Tickets for the BRSCC weekend at Donington Park are available upon arrival at the circuit for £17 per day or £30 for the full weekend. For more information, click here.
