Dates announced for 2016 Donington Classic Motorcycle Festival
Donington Park is delighted to confirm that the Donington Classic Motorcycle Festival will return on 5/6/7 August 2016.
The festival, which was held for the third time on the weekend just gone by, has quickly become one of the largest classic bike events in Europe, and this year attracted hundreds of racing bikes, hundreds more display exhibits and a star cast of famous names from the sport, including Freddie Spencer, Niall Mackenzie, Jim Redman, Ron Haslam and Steve Parrish.
The Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club, which holds a huge club show featuring countless examples of classic bikes will also return to be part of next year’s event, after a successful 12th running
The Classic Racing Motorycle Club’s Gordon Russell, commented: “The Classic Racing Motorcycle Club (CRMC) is delighted that Donington Park are announcing that the fourth running of the Classic Motorcycle Festival will take place over the weekend of 5-7 August 2016.
“The partnership between the CRMC and Donington Park goes back a long way; indeed the CRMC was formed in 1979 at a meeting of like-minded bike racing enthusiast at the Redgate Lodge pub which used to stand near Redgate corner. Since then the CRMC has put on races at all the major UK circuits but we feel that Donington is our ‘spiritual’ home.
“This year we had an entry of nearly 500 bikes with solos, sidecars and parade bikes of all makes from the Classic and Post Classic eras. This is an increase on last year and with the growth of interest in Classic and Heritage motorcycling, the entry level will only be higher next year. See you there in 2016.”
Donington Park Managing Director Christopher Tate commented: “We are delighted to be able confirm the return of the Donington Classic Motorcycle Festival for 2016. The event has grown massively over the past three years, and has become a must see event for motorcycle fanatics of all ages. We’re already looking forward to another fantastic event next year!”
