Donington Park and Music & Sport presents Donington Live
Donington Park and Music+Sport are excited to announce the first annual DONINGTON LIVE concert on Sunday, 4th September 2016. Featuring a headline performance from a very special guest and in the picturesque setting of Donington Park, the event is set to be the highlight in the musical and social calendar for the region.
East Midlands’ newest cultural music event was conceived when the beloved Darley Park concert was unable to continue at its current location. At the new home of Donington Park, many of the standout features of the Darley Park concert will be retained, including the continued importance of East Midlands-based Orchestra, SinfoniaViva and the magnificent finale firework display, whilst many new elements will be implemented.
With over 35,000 music fans descending on to Darley Park last year from across Derbyshire and beyond, the new partnership of Donington Park and Music+Sport presents the opportunity for the event to grow and cater for the whole East Midlands region with Donington’s world-class event infrastructure. Including excellent parking, the location is easily accessible from Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and beyond. The site overlooks the historic Breedon On The Hill Church and is the perfect setting for what is planned to be a permanent fixture in the summer calendar for music lovers and those seeking a great day out with family and friends.
As well as a day of fantastic entertainment, there will be family fun and food for all tastes and budgets available to purchase, with a mix of picnics, hot cultural food and street food stalls.
Roger Lowe, Commercial Director at Donington Park said:
"We are very pleased to be working with our partners Music+Sport to continue to deliver the Derby Live classical concert at Donington Park. The Donington Live event on 4 September will bring together all the best bits of the existing concert including a myriad of classical performers and headline acts which will allow the legacy of the event to continue and evolve. Donington Park is an iconic venue for music events and with our experience of holding concerts and large scale festivals, we are sure that visitors to Donington Live will have a thoroughly memorable experience."
Derby City Council and Derby LIVE, the tourism arm of the Council, will still be involved. Derby postcode residents will receive a 33% discount on tickets to the concert for early bird bookings. There will also be a coach service for Derby residents, with pick up points near Darley Abbey and Derby Bus Station.
Peter Meakin, Creative Producer at Derby LIVE said:
"This is a fitting development for a concert born and nurtured in Derby, that will now become a regional cultural event."
Keep an eye out as the first artist announcements will be made early May.
Due to the expansion and change of location, the event will now be ticketed. For more details visit donington-park.co.uk
