Donington Park announces new management structure and director promotions
The Board of Donington Park Racing Limited, a member of the Wheatcroft Group, announces today three key promotions within its senior management team as part of its new management structure.
The present Board of Donington – Chairman Kevin Wheatcroft, Finance Director Phil O’Connor and Managing Director Christopher Tate – will now be expanded:
· Alison Nicholls is promoted from General Manager to Chief Operating Officer
Kevin Wheatcroft welcomed Alison to the Board and said:
“Alison has already proved herself and her abilities over the past five years in first re-starting and then rebuilding this circuit and successfully growing its business; and I now look forward to her future input with great expectations.”
Alison Nicholls was one the first members hired by the new company at the re-opening of Donington Park in late 2010. She brought with her a wealth of business knowledge and experience and has been a key member of the senior team in creating the growth of the business over the past 5 years. In her new role as COO, not only will Alison be part of the Board driving the business forward but will take responsibility for the senior management team, the day to day running and the overall profitability of the business.
Also promoted as of the September 2nd Board meeting, are Bob Adams to the position of Sporting Director and Roger Lowe to become Commercial Director; both will join the Board of Donington Park Racing Limited, reporting through the COO.
Bob Adams joined Donington Park in 2003 from a career at MG Rover; he first came to Donington as a weekday marshal, then as noise control officer and then as a track day manager, before returning at the circuit’s re-start in 2010 to manage the circuit’s regular operations. He has since overseen all the major race events, including the FIM World Championships, BSB, BTCC and other major race meetings. His new role will include the annual race calendar creation as well as the further expansion of all on-circuit activities.
Roger Lowe joined Donington in late 2012 from a successful sales career in hotels and conferences, including working for one of the UK’s major horse race courses. Under his management at Donington, the non-circuit commercial activities – ranging from automotive industry launches, via music events to conference and hospitality sales - have all seen rapid growth. In his new role, Roger will be developing these activities, as well as creating new income streams across the 650 acres of the Park at Donington.
In welcoming the expansion of the Senior Team at Donington Park Racing, Managing Director Christopher Tate said:
“Donington is now once more strongly positioned as one of the top three of the UK’s international race circuits. We host major events across a wide range of both the two and four wheel motor sports, and we are diversifying rapidly. With strong partners like the Honda Haslam race school, the FIA Formula E race series which is headquartered here, and a range of important race industry tenants on site, and with our strong financial controls, the company is now set for its next stage.
“It has been a tremendous challenge to get to where we are now; but with the addition of Alison, Bob and Roger joining the Board, we have a full set of dynamic and enthusiastic directors, and are looking forward to building a really solidly-based yet fast-moving business that delivers results for all its customers, for the motor sport industry, our staff, and of course for its shareholders”.
