Donington Park bike season continues with the huge grids of Thundersport GB and World Sidecars
The Donington Park bike season continues this weekend (11-12 April) with action from the Thundersport GB series, which features the opening round of this year’s World Sidecar Championship.
Thundersport GB boasts some of the biggest grids in UK motorsport, with over 350 riders expected to go elbow to elbow throughout the weekend, with a packed schedule of 40 races, making for one of the most action packed weekends in British motorsport. With the bikes reaching speeds of over 150mph on the straights at Donington Park, the action promises to be fast and furious.
The addition of the World Sidecars also adds further prestige to the line-up. Sidecars offer some of the most spectacular racing in any motorsport, with two riders in charge of each vehicle, with the ‘passenger’ literally holding on to the bike at breath taking speeds.
At the other end of the scale, some of the youngest motorsport competitors in the UK will battle it out in the Aprilia Superteens. The series has produced a series of motorcycling stars in the past, and the star of their last round at Brands Hatch was pint-sized 12-year-old rider Max Cook.
Adding to the fun, Donington Park has laid on a series of fun activities for all the family including a simulator, bouncy castle and face painting.
It’s also one of the most affordable weekends anyone in the country can get to, with tickets priced at just £12 per day in advance or £20 for the weekend. On track action starts at 9am on Saturday until 7pm, with the action resuming at 9am on Sunday.
Donington Park Managing Director Christopher Tate commented: “The Donington Park bike season got off to a sensational start with British Superbikes on Easter weekend, where we welcomed record crowds to the circuit, who enjoyed three days of sensational racing. But the action continues this weekend with Thundersport, where the racing is every bit as frantic and intense, and fantastic value for money for families looking for a great day out, and Donington offers just that!”
Advance tickets are on sale until 5pm Wednesday 8th April.
