Donington Park congratulates Jonathan Rea – World Superbike Champion

Donington Park today (Monday 21 September) congratulates Jonathan Rea, who became World Superbike Champion yesterday (Sunday 20 September).
Northern Irishman, Rea, is the fifth British rider to become World Superbike Champion, joining illustrious names including Carl Fogarty, Neil Hodgson, James Toseland and Tom Sykes.
Rea has won 12 races this season and finished second in both races at Donington this year, after thrilling battles with his team mate Tom Sykes, and becomes champion with four races still remaining.
Donington Park Managing Director Christopher Tate commented: “We are delighted to see Jonathan Rea clinch the World Superbike Championship, his season stats speak volumes, 12 wins and 8 podiums is a level of performance almost unheard of. British riders are really pressing ahead in the world scene now, and to have a British World Champion gives fans an extra incentive to come and see the exhilaration action at the World Superbike event here next year!”
