Donington Park supports women in motorsport with awards presentation for BWRDC
Donington Park Managing Director Christopher Tate was on hand to make an award presentation to the British Women’s Racing Driver Club (BWRDC) at the Autosport International Show at the Birmingham NEC on the weekend, reaffirming Donington’s support to female involvement in motorsport.
Donington has supported the BWRDC for several years, and annually presents its two leading drivers with free test days at the circuit to reward and further aid their development. This year’s recipients were Elen Worthington, a sprint competitor, and Sara Williams, who competes in rallying. Both were presented GoldStar awards by the BWRDC and will be able to take advantage of their test days at Donington in the near future.
Christopher Tate commented: “We are very committed to supporting female participation in motorsport, and are delighted to again make the award presentation to the British Women’s Racing Drivers Club and to Elen and Sara, who we look forward to welcoming to Donington Park soon.
“We believe female participation in motorsport is essential if the sport is to continue to grow. With many new initiatives being launched, including high profile schemes including Susie Wolff’s Dare to be Different programme, we are confident that awareness will grow, and we will see more women drivers on track at Donington, working on the cars and bikes in the pits and in other areas including the media, and hospitality.”
