Easter date for Donington’s British Touring Car round in 2017
Donington Park is set for a high-octane Easter weekend next year, after it was announced that the annual visit from the British Touring Car Championship will take place at the East Midlands circuit on 15-16 April.
Retaining the popular April date, the Easter weekend will ensure a carnival atmosphere at Donington Park for one of the most popular events on the circuit’s calendar, from one of the biggest championships in the country.
“We are delighted to be hosting the BTCC round on Easter weekend,” Donington Sporting Director Bob Adams commented. “Donington traditionally serves up an epic trio of races for the BTCC, and hosting the round on Easter weekend, where people have a lot more free time, should allow us to introduce a new audience to the sport. It’ll be a fantastic weekend. Thanks to Alan Gow and his team for the release of such an early calendar, which is a great help for us all in our 2017 planning.”
Mat Jackson, Rob Collard and Matt Neal were the three winners at this year’s rounds in April, and it is expected that the BTCC round on Easter weekend next year will feature further exciting racing from some of Britain’s best championships. The BTCC races three times on the main race day (Sunday) and with fast and frantic action, frequently with contact between the drivers, is a firm family favourite.
