Exciting new LMP3 Cup series to make official debut at Donington Park this weekend
The much awaited new LMP3 Cup series kicks off at Donington Park this weekend (22-23 April), as part of two days of excitement from MotorSport Vision Racing.
The LMP3 Cup caters for brand new prototype sports cars, almost identical to those raced at the famous Le Mans 24 Hour race in France. An impressive line-up of cars from manufacturers including ex-F1 manufacturer Ligier will be piloted by top class drivers and professional teams that are adept to running at Le Mans.
The cars, powered by 420 horsepower V8 engines will race twice across the weekend, with both races of an hour duration, and include all the usual traits of Le Mans including driver changes. The races will therefore be a test of not just speed, but strategy and pit stop skill.
Further to the LMP3 Cup, there will be more sports prototype drama from the Radical Challenge Championship, with a strong line-up of sports cars from this iconic British manufacturer and will race three times on Saturday.
More sports car action will come from the GT Cup Championship, which will feature a huge grid of supercars including Ferraris, Porsches, Mosler, Lotus, Ginetta and Bentley among others.
Single seater aces will do battle in the F3 Cup Championship, which showcases a variety of F3 machinery from the 1980s right up to modern day, while more sports cars will be in action from the Aston Martin Owner’s Club Intermarque and GT Challenge.
The action is completed by the MSVT Trackday Championship, which aims to introduce newcomers to competitive motorsport action.
Tickets will be available on arrival at the gate throughout the weekend, priced at £17 per day for adults or £30 for the full weekend. Concessions include £5 off for OAPs. Little Racers and local residents (with valid proof of address for DE74, DE73, DE72 & LE12 9 postcodes). Children aged 13 and under go free throughout. For more information, click here.
