Heavyweight trucks confirm Donington 2016 date

The unique British Truck Racing Championship will return to Donington Park on 23-24 July 2016, for one of the circuit’s most popular family events.

The series enjoyed a fantastic 2015 season with full grids of mighty racing trucks, each weighing at least five tonnes!  The championship has become a firm fan favourite with five races per weekend, and with around 20 trucks in each race, ensuring close competition, power slides aplenty and even the occasional bit of contact!

Combined with a mid-summer date, the event has become a key event for families in the East Midlands and further afar, with further entertainment around the venue including kids rides, go karting, simulators and massive parades on track.

Local racer Mat Summerfield, from Burton on Trent, claimed the title this year, his fourth in a row, and his quest to land another championship crown will add to the local interest.

Donington Park Managing Director Christopher Tate commented: “We are very much looking forward to the return of the British Truck Racing Championship to Donington Park in July next year. The championship has proven itself as a big family favourite, and our younger fans greatly enjoy seeing the biggest racing machines in the country doing battle. With lots of things to do around the track, and plenty to see on it, it’s always a fantastic and great value day out for the whole family.”
