Le Mans-style highlights coming-up this weekend!

Donington Park will be transformed into a mini Le Mans this weekend (16-17 September) with powerful prototypes and exotic GT cars headlining the action from MotorSport Vision Racing.

The LMP3 Cup, for prototype cars almost identical to those seen at the Le Mans 24 Hours, is one of the UK’s newest and most spectacular categories, boasting 480bhp V8 engines and futuristic aerodynamic styling, with this being the final round of the season.

There will be two races for the LMP3 Cup, with both races being hour long mini-endurance contests, featuring driver changes. A star name confirmed to take part is former Olympic gold medallist and former Le Mans racer Sir Chris Hoy, who is racing a United Autosport-run Ligier machine alongside Sandy Mitchell, who won a young driver contest to secure the drive.

Further action will come from the equally spectacular GT Cup, which will pitch a big grid full of glamorous supercars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin, and acting as a perfect prelude to next weekend’s British GT season finale.

Exciting wheel to wheel action will come from the MINI Challenge, with two categories set to do battle in a series that has become renowned for providing limitless action across the country, as well as a proving ground for touring car stars of the future.

Further tin top racing will come from the Toyo Tires Production BMW Championship, which always delivers large entry lists thanks to its fantastic value for money racing, while its sister series, the Toyo Tires Racing Saloons should provide more of the same.

Action is completed with races for the Monoposto Championship, catering for almost any single seater machine from Formula Ford to Formula Three.

Tickets are available upon arrival at the circuit priced at £17 per day, with free entry for children aged 13 and under. For more information, click here.
