NG Road Racers set for Donington drama this weekend
Hundreds of motorcycle racers will do battle at Donington Park this weekend (7-8 May), as the NG Road Racing Club (NGRRC) kicks off a month of fabulous motorcycle racing at the East Midlands circuit.
A heaving race schedule will see 20 championships in action, with 23 races expected on Saturday, and 22 on Sunday, from a club notable for pushing the likes of Steve Parrish into the limelight.
Among the races this weekend is two contests for the 250GP ACU National Championship, which has attracted a host of European riders to go head to head with the best of British. These races are also combined with the National 125GP, which should ensure a big line-up on the grid.
Another hotly contested trio of races will come from the Phoenix Open series, NGRRC’s premier class, which features Superbikes and Supersport bikes. A real highlight of the meeting is the always entertaining British F2 sidecars, which features daredevil riders and passengers going wheel to wheel, and this weekend features a number of riders who will be competing at the Isle of Man TT.
As well as these national championships, there will be fierce racing across numerous other categories from the NGRRC including potential stars of the future with teenage riders competing in the Formula 125 series, Formula 400 and the evocative Sound of Thunder series for four stroke, twin and three cylinder bikes among those also competing.
May is set to be a month of motorcycling at Donington, with more action coming from No Limits Racing on 14-15 May, and then the circuit’s premier event of the season, the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship on 27-29 May.
Tickets for the NG Road Racing Club at Donington Park this weekend will be available upon arrival at the gate, priced at £17 per day or £30 for the full weekend.
