Tom Wood targets podium again in second round of Formula Kart Stars
Castle Donington karting ace Tom Wood is targeting more podium finishes in rounds three and four of this year’s Formula Kart Stars (FKS) series, as he looks to build on his victory success in the first round at Whilton Mill in May.
The 13-year-old, who is supported by Donington Park in the series, races in the Junior category and won the first round with a pole position and three wins including a triumph in the all-important final. He backed that up in round two with another pair of podium finishes at the same circuit, marking him out as very much one to watch in a series that has the backing of influential F1 figures including Bernie Ecclestone and Lewis Hamilton. Tom is also competing in the Super One Minimax series this year, and is a proven front runner there too.
Tom returns to FKS action again this weekend at Silverstone on the challenging ‘Stowe’ circuit layout, and the young charger is eagerly looking forward to racing on a circuit he’s never driven on before.
“I’m really looking forward to the next two rounds of FKS” he commented. “The Silverstone track will be totally new to me, so I will have to learn the circuit quickly, which I'm very excited about. I'm aiming for a top 3 finish in both rounds, as the Junior class is very competitive, so it would be another great achievement. I'm really proud to represent Donington Park and hope to do them proud.”
