Truck loads of fun at Donington Park’s biggest family event!
There will be bucket loads of family fun at the British Truck Racing Championship at Donington Park on 23-24 July, the circuit’s most popular family event.
With a packed schedule of races on circuit, including 10 monster contests for the heavyweight Truck Racing Championship, and a huge variety of off track entertainment, there will be more than enough to keep all spectators entertained throughout the weekend. Fans will also enjoy greater access than ever to the trucks and their drivers thanks to a free of charge grid walk during the lunch break on both days!
The British Truck Racing Championship is literally the country’s biggest racing championship, featuring five-tonne racing leviathans boasting 1,000 horsepower and 12-litre engines! The trucks may look like the HGVs that trundle along motorways across the country, but these racing versions can hit 100mph quicker than a sports car, and force their way round the corners with smoke billowing off their tyres. Despite their size, the trucks go wheel to wheel throughout the race, and with reverse grids for some races, there is overtaking aplenty!
The trucks will race an incredible 10 times throughout the weekend, with further action from single seaters, saloon cars, Legends and pick-up trucks, with 23 races in total across the two days.
Fabulous fan access
The starting grid before a race is normally a place reserved for VIPs and team personnel, as drivers gear up for the start of a race. But Donington will be opening up the start grid during the lunch breaks on both days, allowing fans to get right up close to the trucks, meet the drivers and take in the atmospheric surroundings. This is a rare opportunity to experience the pre-race build up, and access is free of charge to all ticket holders!
Entertainment zone to keep all visitors entertained
As well as the huge schedule of races, spectators will be able to visit a special trade and family fun zone on the inside of Redgate corner. This will feature a fun fair, go karts, face painting, bouncy castle, trampolines and a display from the armed forces and fire service. With more to be confirmed, this is a must visit area for the weekend! As well as this, there will also be big displays of spectacular show trucks.
