MSV marks one year since Donington Park acquisition - 12 Jan 2018

A year ago today (12 January) MotorSport Vision (MSV) announced its take-over of the Donington Park circuit - and work is well underway to transform the venue in time for the 2018 season.

The deal was cleared unconditionally by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in August 2017 and since then multi-million pound plans have been put in place to make significant upgrades to the Donington Park estate, improving facilities for visitors and competitors alike.

These include the laying of a hard surface on Paddock 3 for the first time, bigger and better toilet blocks, a major new restaurant and café in the heart of the venue, improvements to the viewing bank and the construction of a grandstand at Hollywood corner, and a new circuit office adjacent to the Formula E complex overlooking the circuit and paddock.

In August, MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer said: "Donington's customers and end users will benefit significantly from MSV's much greater investment in all aspects of the venue, and the associated improvement in the customer experience both in terms of service and value."

Work has been continuing apace in recent weeks. Many of the dated toilet blocks around the venue have now been demolished, and groundwork on the new structures are falling into place. Likewise, construction of the new grandstand at Hollywood will begin shortly, with the foundations almost completed.

The new circuit office has also seen much work over the past few weeks, with offices, meeting rooms and other facilities quickly taking shape ahead of a scheduled move-in date at the end of February.

Work is also continuing on the surfacing of Paddock 3, while building of the new restaurant is due to commence shortly, as well as improvements to the gates to speed up entry.
