Reigning Kwik Fit British Touring Car champion Tom Ingram will make his Intelligent Money British GT Championship debut at Donington Park this October.
Following another successful BTCC season, which could see him win a second title at Brands Hatch this weekend, the touring car front runner will make his bow in the GT4 class. Ingram will team up with the MKH squad and Ron Johnson to drive an Aston Martin Vantage in the #DoningtonDecider.
“Ron often calls up asking if I fancy racing this or that with him. It could be anything, but on this occasion it was British GT at Donington. And obviously I said yes,” said Ingram. “First and foremost we’re there to have fun and stay out of trouble. I know how I’d feel if someone jeopardised my title chances.”
Ingram and Johnson share a racing history having competed in the GT Cup Championship together in both a Ferrari 458 and a Toyota GR Supra GT4. The duo will test the GT4 Aston Martin for the first time, just before the race weekend.
Ingram continued: “I’m curious to see how the new generation of GT4 cars perform. I’ve done some GT racing in the past but not at this level so it will be good to gauge myself against the established guys. Having said that, Ron and I won’t test the Aston until the Thursday of the event so we’re also under no illusions. As I said, we’re primarily there to have a good time.”
Ingram will be racing in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch this weekend (7/8 October) where he will try to overturn a 45 point deficit to rival Ash Sutton. For more information on the BTCC, click here.
