Remy Gardner smashed the lap record at Donington Park in the third Free Practice session for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship this morning as the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team rider set a new all-time best of 1m:25.823s.
The previous Moto2 World Champion saved his best until the final run of the session to push Toprak Razgatlioglu back into second place for the first time this weekend as the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WSBK Team rider narrowly missed out by just 0.082s.
Scott Redding moved up the order ahead of his home round as he took third place on the times ahead of the Pata Prometeon Yamaha pairing of Andrea Locatelli and Jonathan Rea, with fellow Yamaha contender Dominique Aegerter completing the top six.
Garrett Gerloff had been inside the top three earlier in the session but final improvements in the last moments of the session dropped him to seventh as he remained ahead of Danilo Petrucci, home contender Alex Lowes and Andrea Iannone.
Meanwhile reigning World Champion Alvaro Bautista and the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team ended the session in 14th position.
