Razgatlioglu does the treble to steal WorldSBK championship lead heading to Donington Park

17 June 2024

Toprak Razgatlioglu marched to an incredible triple win at Misano last weekend, as the Turkish rider and 2021 champion stormed into the lead of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship heading to Donington Park on 12-14 July.

But despite his epic weekend in Italy, just 24 points (less than race win) separates the top three in the championship standings, with Ducati’s Nicolo Bulega and double reigning champion Alvaro Bautista snapping at the BMW man’s heels.

It all points towards an extra spicy weekend at Donington Park, and tickets are still available in advance. Adult main Sunday raceday admission is available for £45, with discounted rates for teenagers aged 13-15 and free entry all weekend for children under-13. Click here to book or for more information.

Razgatlioglu has now won six of this year’s 12 races, as he looks to break Bautista’s dominant stranglehold of the title for the past two years. He didn’t have it all his own way in Italy however, as despite claiming pole position for the two main races, he had to fight back from slow starts each time to claim his victories. His race one victory saw him take over the championship lead, and he was in similar form in the Superpole race, as he again slipped behind his rivals, only to steal the lead back.

His biggest fightback came in the final race as he dropped as low as fifth, but he was imperious as he carved his way back through to take his biggest win of the weekend.

Bulega took three second place finishes across the event to remain well in the hunt in his debut WorldSBK campaign, while Bautista’s event was up and down with a third, a 17th and a third as he was knocked off his perch.

Expect a Ducati fightback at Donington Park, though the circuit is a favourite of Razgatlioglu’s! With Kawasaki’s home hero Alex Lowes flying high courtesy of another podium, and with fellow British hopes Sam Lowes, Jonathan Rea, Scott Redding, Tarran Mackenzie and Bradley Ray all likely to be in the mix, the action on 12-14 July should be unmissable!

Each ticket includes free access to the paddock all weekend, including the unique Paddock Show and Victory Road features, where the stars of the show will make appearances all weekend, and where all the top line podium ceremonies will take place throughout the event.

Tickets can be purchased in advance until 4pm on Wednesday 10 July, after which they’ll be available upon arrival at the venue at gate prices. For more information and to book, click here.
