Huge entry of classic contenders set to get 2024 racing season underway at Donington Park

18 March 2024

The first race event of the season at Donington Park is coming up this weekend (23-24 March), courtesy of the Classic Sports Car Club (CSCC), with well over 400 entries received for the club’s first meeting of 2024.

With such a huge entry, expect to see a massively varied mix of machinery spanning multiple decades, stretching as far back as the 1950s right up to the present day.

The biggest grids come courtesy of the Swinging Sixties category, with over 40 cars entered for a pair of races across multiple classes. Look out for retro MG Midgets, Austin Healeys, Hillman Imps, Ford Cortinas, Sunbeam Tigers and Lotuses among many others.

Including reserves, there’s 37 cars on the entry list for the Classic K series for pre-1966 GT and Touring cars, and 41 machines expected for the Liqui Moly Slicks series, including BTCC legend Colin Turkington at the wheel of a BMW M3 E36 Evo, the same vehicle with which he’ll contest the New Millennium and Turbo Tin Tops event on Sunday.

Porsche Boxsters, Ginetta G20s, BMW M3s, Jaguar XJSs and more will do battle in the Modern Classics, and there’s 30 Caterhams entered for the Magnificent Sevens.

A mixture of Honda Civics, Renault Clios, Ford Fiestas and Mazda RX-8s are among the machinery confirmed for the Tin Tops series, and with further action for the Ramair BMW Championship, Verum Builders Open, MG Trophy, Jaguar Championship, MG Midget and Sprite Challenge, Mike Hawthorn Jaguar Challenge, Future Classics, Modern Classics, Puma Cup and Turbo Tin Tops, you’ll struggle to find a more varied line-up than at this weekend’s two-day race meeting.

Advance tickets are available priced at £15 per day for adults, or £25 for the full weekend, or £9 for teenagers aged 13-15 (£15 weekend). Children under-13 go free all weekend. Advance booking ends at 4pm on Friday 22 March, after which, tickets will be available upon arrival on the day. For more information and to book, click here.
