Kyle Ryde was back on the Omologato Pole Position after Speedy Hire Qualifying at Donington Park as the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider retained his place ahead of his rivals as the stage is set for the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship race of the weekend.
Ryde set a banker lap and then continued to improve his pace to give him a 0.120s edge over Danny Kent, who fired the McAMS Racing Yamaha into second place on his final lap of the session, nudging Josh Brookes to third as FHO Racing BMW Motorrad Team returned to the front row.
Kent’s final lap improvement had pushed Charlie Nesbitt back onto the second row for MasterMac Honda with Ryde’s main title rivals, Tommy Bridewell and Glenn Irwin completing row two in fifth and sixth respectively.
Leon Haslam was in the top three until the final five minutes of the session and he will start seventh ahead of Lee Jackson and Andrew Irwin with Christian Iddon completing the top ten.
