The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship returns to action with its first race event of 2025 at Donington Park this weekend (26/27 April). Three Sunday races around the National circuit will kick proceedings off for the year, with a grid packed with talent set to star.
This year’s entry is headlined by four previous series champions, including last year’s title winner Jake Hill. The reigning champion will defend the crown with the same Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport squad with which he claimed honours last year, once again at the wheel of BMW machinery.
The entry also features the championship’s other two most recent winners in three-time series victor Ash Sutton and 2022 champion Tom Ingram. Sutton returns with NAPA Racing UK, remaining at the wheel of a Ford Focus ST for a fourth successive season. This combination claimed the 2023 title in dominant style so Sutton will undoubtedly be one contender to watch out for this weekend.
Ingram, meanwhile, lines up with Team Vertu keeping him at the wheel of the Hyundai i30 N in which he’s been such a potent force in recent years. Ingram was Hill’s closest title rival during the final races of last season and he’ll be aiming to start things off with a repeat of his double victory at this event one year ago.
The other champion on the grid is Gordon Shedden, who rejoins the BTCC fray after a few seasons away. This time, the Scotsman lines up with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA as he chases what would be a record-equalling fourth title in the national tin top series.
Others to watch out for through, not just Sunday’s three headline contests but also qualifying and practice on Saturday, include Dan Cammish, Josh Cook, Aron Taylor-Smith, Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton. A number of new faces have joined the grid too, including Charles Rainford, James Dorlin and Max Hall, whist Nicolas Hamilton is a fan favourite making a comeback.
