BTCC Free Practice 1: Ingram leads the way as season begins at Donington Park

26 April 2025

Tom Ingram led the way in the opening Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship practice session of the 2025 season, lapping the Donington Park National circuit in 1m07.364s this morning.

The 2022 champion topped a strong session for his Team Vertu outfit, during which three of its cars ended up in the top-four. Impressively though, Ingram was more than half a second clear of his nearest rival – teammate Tom Chilton.

Chilton slipped into second late on to move in front of three-time champion Ashley Sutton. The NAPA Racing UK Ford was just over seven-tenths behind Ingram’s session leading pace and marginally ahead of Adam Morgan in Team Vertu’s third best placed Hyundai.

Dan Cammish was fifth in the second NAPA branded Ford Focus ST, just ahead in Daniel Rowbottom in another of the team’s entries. Behind that, Mikey Doble was seventh in grid’s sole Vauxhall Astra just ahead of Charles Rainford in the first of WSR’s BMWs.

James Dorlin and Chris Smiley rounded out the top-10. Reigning champion Jake Hill will be hoping to rise up the order later on after finishing the opening practice 14th.
