BTCC Qualifying: Cammish seizes first pole of 2025 at Donington Park

26 April 2025

Dan Cammish claimed the first pole position of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season at Donington Park this afternoon (Saturday). By doing so, he now heads into Sunday with an early one-point lead in the standings.

Cammish produced a best effort of 1m07.659s around the National circuit during the final Quick Six qualifying segment. For much of the knockout qualifying process, it looked like Cammish’s NAPA Racing UK teammate Ash Sutton would be duking it out with Tom Ingram. But Cammish did just enough to fend off the sister Ford Focus ST by just 0.11s.

Ingram was just a further two hundredths of a second further back at the wheel of his Team Vertu Hyundai in an almightily close session, setting up an evenly matched group at the front for race day. Daniel Rowbottom was fourth, just under four tenths of a second behind Cammish, an gap which would have put him in the picture for the top-two in practice.

Behind that, Ronan Pearson was fifth in his Toyota, the only non Ford or Hyundai to make the top-six. Tom Chilton will start sixth tomorrow after making the Quick Six, but he wasn’t able to set a time after coming to a halt early on in the final track period.

Beyond the top-six, Josh Cook will start tomorrow’s opening race in seventh after a rapid showing at the wheel of the retuning One Motorsport Honda Civic Type R. Reigning champion Jake Hill will be hoping to charge through the order too, after winding up eighth in his Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport BMW. Aron Taylor-Smith and Mikey Doble will complete the top-10.
