MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship leader Nicolo Bulega moved to the top of the times in the second and final Free Practice session of the day here at Donington Park this afternoon (Friday).
The Italian set what would prove to be the fastest time of the 45-minute session early on in hot conditions at the East Midlands circuit. He fell from his Ducati shortly afterwards, getting back up quickly, but that initial time of 1m26.342s would go on to top the session when action ended just over half an hour later.
Danilo Petrucci was the next best, just under two tenths of a second behind Bulega’s quickest effort, with Sam Lowes the best of the British contenders in third. Once again, four homegrown heroes made the top-10, and it was the same quartet albeit in a different order. Alex Lowes, Sam’s brother, was sixth with Scott Redding, seventh, and Ryan Vickers in eighth just behind.
Further forward, Toprak Razgatlioglu was the fourth fastest rider, setting a time just less than three tents of a second off Bulega. Behind him, Garrett Gerloff rounded out the top-five a mere three thousandths adrift of Razgatlioglu.
Andrea Locatelli and Dominique Aegerter, riding for two different Yamaha outfits completed the top-10.
