Optimum Motorsport has confirmed that McLaren factory driver Marvin Kirchhöfer will return to the British GT Championship, teaming up with Morgan Tillbrook in a new-look McLaren 720S GT3.
Kirchhöfer claimed two poles and a podium during his only full season to date with Garage 59 in 2023, as well as a second place finish at Silverstone the year prior. The German driver joins Tillbrook, who made the move from Garage 59 to Optimum Motorsport over the winter.
Both drivers have extensive experience behind the wheel of the 720S, with Tillbrook competing in the 720S since 2021, securing three wins in the championship and a third-place finish in the 2022 standings.
Tillbrook and Kirchhöfer have spent the off-season competing together over the winter, having already teamed up with Optimum for outings in the Asian Le Mans Series.
Kirchhöfer said: “Morgan has shown great pace in qualifying at the Asian Le Mans Series which will be one of the key points for British GT, especially with the shorter races where starting position is very important. There’s only one goal this year, and that’s going for the overall championship win and I’m very optimistic that we can do this and I’m excited for that challenge!”
