McLaren machinery topped the timesheets in Free Practice at the Donington Park season finale this morning (Saturday), with Marcus Clutton setting a time of 1m27.287s in his and Matt Topham's Orange Racing by JMH McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.
In what was an session interrupted by two red flag periods, one initiated after the #88 Mahiki Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo piloted by Joe Wheeler went into the barriers at the old hairpin, and another ending the session prematurely when the #37 Jolt Racing McLaren of Rupert Williams went off at Hollywood, Clutton set his speediest time on his fifth tour.
Next quickest was the Porsche of Team Parker Racing of Nick Jones and Sven Muller, navigating the sunny but blustery conditions to slot the car into second, around three tenths off the lead. Rounding off the top three was the Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini of Alex Martin and Sandy Mitchell, two hundredths further back.
In fourth was the championship-leading 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss, a tenth back from the Barwell Lamborghini. Completing the top five was Optimum Motorsport's McLaren of Mike Price and Callum Macleod, a further tenth behind in the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.
Sixth place went to the other Mercedes of 2 Seas Motorsport's Kevin Tse and Maximilian Gotz. Half a tenth back from him was the Beechdean Motorsport Ltd of Andrew Howard and Tom Wood, the quickest of the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo machinery.
The second-quickest was not far behind, with the Blackthorn of Giacomo Petrobelli/Jonny Adam in eighth, a further half-tenth back for Blackthorn. In ninth was the Optimum Motorsport McLaren of Morgan Tillbrook/Marvin Kirchhofer, and finishing the top ten was the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of Barwell Motorsport's Rob Collard and Hugo Cook.
