Rob Collard and Hugo Cook will start tomorrow's British GT Championship race from pole position after setting the quickest aggregate time during qualifying this afternoon (Saturday) at Donington Park.
Collard topped the first qualifying session with a 1m27.123, and Cook, while not returning the favour, was quick enough that when the times were combined, the pair were solidified at the top of the timesheets.
Fellow Barwell pairing Sandy Mitchell and Alex Martin slotted into second, just over two tenths behind the leading duo. Martin placed seventh in his session, but Mitchell pulled back the times, topping his own and boosting the Lamborghini into second. Rounding off the top three were Orange Racing by JMH's Marcus Clutton and Matt Topham, just under half a second off the frontrunners.
Fourth position went to championship leaders 2 Seas Motorsport's Kiern Jewiss and Charles Dawson. Dawson placed second in the first qualifying session, but a tenth-placed finish for Jewiss demoted them two spots. Completing the top five were Tom Wood and Andrew Howard, who placed their Beechdean Motorsport Ltd. Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo just under seven tenths behind the leaders.
Close behind in sixth were Blackthorn's Jonny Adam and Giacomo Petrobelli, with 2 Seas' second Lamborghini of Kevin Tse and Maximilian Gotz a further two tenths back in seventh.
Optimum Motorsport's Marvin Kirchhofer and Morgan Tillbrook took their McLaren to eighth, just over a second off the quickest time. Sven Muller and Nick Jones' combined efforts brought their Team Parker Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) to ninth, with Blackthorn's Darren Leung and Nick Yelloly completing the top ten.
