Ash Sutton doubled up at Donington Park, claiming his second victory of the day in the final Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend this afternoon (Sunday).
Ricky Collard initially led from reverse-grid pole position in his Team VERTU Hyundai, but Sutton was already looming as a threat, leaping from eighth to fourth at the start. Collard’s more immediate attention was focused on Chares Rainford though, who rose from third to second at the start in his WSR BMW.
Rainford took the lead on lap two, but Collard was back in front at the start of the following tour with a robust pass on Rainford at Redgate. All that allowed Sutton to loom every larger behind the pair of them, having moved up to third. It was on lap five that Sutton finally made a move stick on Rainford and at this point it seemed another team one-two could be on the cars with fellow NAPA man Dan Cammish in his wake.
This caused Rainford to lose momentum, dropping down to the lower reaches of the top 10. But Sutton’s progressed continued, and he made the most of Collard running wide on lap nine to move in front. That was the decisive moment, and it allowed the four-time champion to win once again, on his 300th appearance in the BTCC.
But it wouldn’t be any of his early race protagonists who claimed second. That place instead went to reigning champion Tom Ingram, who recovered from a disappointing day and the back of the grid to claim his customary place on the podium. He sealed the position with a move on teammate Collard just four laps from home.
Collard was rewarded for his challenge with third, after Cammish was removed as a threat after receiving a 10-second penalty for track limits infringements. That dropped him down to 10th overall in the published result.
Aiden Moffat was fourth, just ahead of Rainford, who recovered from his mid-race loss of momentum, to claim fifth. Dexter Patterson completed the top-six after an encouraging in his Audi. Chris Smiley in seventh produced Restart Racing’s best result of the day, just ahead of Adam Morgan’s Mercedes.
Sam Osborne was ninth, classified just ahead of the demoted Cammish.

BTCC RACE 2: SUTTON LEADS FORD 1-2 AT DONINGTON PARK
19 APRIL 2026
Ash Sutton produced a sublime drive to claim his first win of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season at Donington Park this afternoon (Sunday). This came as part of NAPA Racing one-two from teammate Dan Cammish.
It was Charles Rainford who initially got the best getaway in the second race of the day, launching his WSR BMW past both the pole-sitting Audi of Mikey Doble, and Sutton’s Ford. Sutton produced a strong cutback as they exited Redgate however, slipping up the inside to steal a lead he was never to lose.
He would be forced to wait a little longer to push on though, following an off for Nicolas Hamilton’s Hyundai which summoned the safety car. Another bit of drama from the Team VERTU stable came for reigning champion Tom Ingram, who dived to the pits at the end of the formation lap with a failing alternator.
Full speed action resumed on lap five, and while the closed up pack offered up an opportunity for those behind Sutton to challenge, he made no mistake, streaming a way to a 48th career success.
The main battle came behind where Rainford and Doble initially ran second and third, with Cammish fourth. Doble rapidly lost ground thereafter, struggling for pace mid-race and ultimately dropping down to 14th. Rainford clung on a while longer though, remaining second until lap 16, when Cammish swept around the outside at Redgate. Rainford fought back, but Cammish had the position secured by the Old Hairpin.
Rainford held onto a podium position until just three laps from the flag, when Gordon Shedden was another to move around the outside at the first corner. This time, Rainford lost ground in quick succession to Aiden Moffat’s Audi and his own teammate Daryl De Leon as he lost momentum through the Craners and Old Hairpin.
Shedden drove home from there to join the NAPA Fords on the podium, with Moffat and De Leon securing fourth and fifth by the flag. Rainford managed to hold on to take sixth as the race came to an end after 21 laps, extended following the safety car period. Dexter Patterson was seventh on a strong day for the Power Maxed Audis, just in front of Ricky Collard, who came home as the best classified Team VERTU Hyundai.
Adam Morgan was ninth for Cataclean Plato Racing, at the wheel’s only remaining Mercedes after Daniel Rowbottom retired. Josh Cook recovered to complete the top 10, bouncing back after his earlier retirement from the podium fight.
