Convoy in the Park delivered a jumbo day of competition to Donington Park today (Sunday) as the annual festival of truck racing and family fun drew to a close with three races from the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC). Michael Oliver, Craig Read and Nathan Smith scored victories in the BTRC, as championship leader David Jenkins extended his lead at the top of the standings.

The first BTRC race of the day, and the third of the weekend, saw Craig Read initially lead away from pole position, before dueling with the MAN TGX machine of Michael Oliver, with the latter going on to claim victory ahead of John Bowler, as Reid completed the podium. Championship protagonists David Jenkins and Stuart Oliver finished fifth and sixth respectively. In Division 2, Callum Eason followed up his Saturday success with another class win.

A feisty race four saw the pole sitter Simon Read have a race-long battle with his brother and stablemate Craig Reid, as Stuart Oliver suffered a potentially championship-shaping mechanical issue that put him out of the race. Up front, it would be Craig who would come out on top, with Nathan Smith claiming the last podium place. Jenkins crossed the line in seventh to further extend his championship lead. Eason once again claimed Division 2 honours.

The final BTRC race saw the top eight from race three reversed, with Smith starting from pole position. However, there was immediate drama as Oliver, Tom O’Rourke, Simon Reid and Jenkins all tangle. At the restart, Simon Reid found the tyre wall and rolled his machine, to bring out another red flag and bringing the final contest to a premature end, with Nathan Smith declared the winner, with O’rourke second, Oliver third and Jenkins fourth, meaning the later leaves Donington Park with an extended championship lead.

In the other categories competing, the three MINI CHALLENGE Clubsport contests saw Oli Willmott take a triple victory. The final CNC Heads Sports & Saloon Car Championship race of the weekend was won by  Chris Roberts, while Dave Marshall and Sean McGovern claimed Civic Cup honours. The pair of Audi Cup races were won by Carl Swift and Andrew Rogerson with TCR UK glory claimed by Harry Bloor.

Finally, Aaron Thompson and Allen Cooper shared the Pickup Truck Racing Championship spoils to complete another fantastic edition of Convoy in the Park.
