Team BMW's four-time champion Colin Turkington set the fastest time of the day so far in the second Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship practice session at Donington Park.
The BMW 330e M Sport driver set a best lap of 1m07.951s inside the first 10 minutes of the 35 minute session, 0.02s quicker than the pace set by Ash Sutton in FP1, and held on to top spot throughout. Turkington ultimately ended up just under a tenth of a second clear of NAPA Racing UK contender Daniel Rowbottom, who went second with a late effort.
Turkington's fellow BMW-runner Jake Hill, running under the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport banner was third quickest, 0.018s away from Rowbottom and 0.034s ahead of the top Hyundai i30N of Tom Chilton in fourth.
Session one pace-setter Sutton was fifth this time around, with Toyota's Ricky Collard again inside the top-six and only just over a quarter of a second away from the pace.
The third BMW of Adam Morgan was seventh, 0.025s clear of Dan Cammish's Ford Focus ST, while reigning champion Tom Ingram enjoyed his first proper laps of the day after his FP1 misfortune, and was ninth in his Bristol Street Motors with Excelr8 Hyundai.
Team HARD's Cupra Leon completed the top-10, which was covered by just over half a second.
The BTCC runners are back on track at 15.40 for the first qualifying session of the season.
