Six-time World Champion Jonathan Rea topped the timing sheets in the second free practice session for this weekend's Motul FIM Superbike World Championship round at Donington Park.
The Northern Irishman put his Kawasaki over half a second clear of reigning champion Toprak Razgatlioglu in second place, who had topped this morning's opening session. Rea set a time of 1m27.016s with only the top-six able to get within a second of him. BMW's Scott Redding rounded out the top three.
Rea held the top spot for the majority of the session with no-one able to get close to his early times, let alone his later attempt which put him even further ahead.
Alex Lowes, Rea's Kawasaki stablemate, was in fourth and Ducati teammates, championship leader Alvaro Bautista and Michael Ruben Rinaldi, were in fifth and sixth with only 0.005s between them.
There were numerous trips through the gravel for multiple riders with Coppice proving to be the most challenging corner.
Seventh went to Loris Baz with Andrea Locatelli in eighth and Garrett Gerloff in ninth. Leon Haslam completed the top-10, 1.4 seconds away from Rea's effort.
